Womenโs Health Physiotherapy was introduced at CRRH in 2023 to support women through pregnancy and the postpartum period โ from preventing and managing common health conditions to promoting overall wellbeing. At the heart of this service is prenantal physiotherapy; a program of safe, guided exercises and education designed to prepare mothers-to-be for pregnancy, labor and reovery after birth.
The Prenatal Program consist of three components: Basic, Advanced and Birthing sessions.
The Basic Prenatal Session begins around 26 weeks of pregnancy. Mothers-to-be learn about the body changes during pregnancy, receive nutritional tips, and are guided on warning signs to watch for, along with simple home exercises to support their health and wellbeing.
The Advanced Prenatal Session begins at 27 weeks of pregnancy, focusing on step-by-step guided exercises – including mobility, strengthening, breathing and relaxation techniques – to improve fitness and ease common pregnancy discomforts. These sessions continue right up until the due date.
The Birthing Session, held at 37 weeks of pregnancy, prepares the mother-to-be for labor and delivery through guidance on stages of labor, the best positions for giving birth and practical tips for a safer, smoother birth. A spouse or caregiver is required to attend this session.
In short, attending all three sessions helps you stay strong, feel prepared, and have a safer birth.
