In a collaborative initiative between CRRH and the World Telehealth Initiative (WTI), a Point of Care Ultrasonography (POCUS) training was held every Wednesday from 18th September to 6th November 2024. The program was led by Telehealth specialists from Orlando Health, Florida, USA, and supported by WTI’s Teladoc device and Butterfly ultrasound probe, which were provided to CRRH.

The training covered essential POCUS techniques, including both basic and advanced imaging. It focused on using ultrasound for rapid diagnosis and improved patient care.

The POCUS sessions was divided into various specialized sessions namely introduction to basic ultrasonography, pulmonary system, cardiac system, Obstetrics and gynecology, abdomen and US protocols on Rapid Ultrasound for Shock and Hypotension (RUSH), Focused assessment with sonography for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) associated tuberculosis (FASH), nerve blocks and ultrasound guided vascular access.

This training not only demonstrated the potential for diagnosis and treatment in areas where such techniques were previously underutilized but also expanded diagnostic capabilities, making ultrasonography more accessible. It empowered clinicians to integrate these skills into their practice, ultimately enhancing healthcare delivery at CRRH.
