The Druk Sokchop Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Training Course, held from 25th to 28th November 2024 at the Central Regional Referral Hospital (CRRH) funded by Japan International cooperation agency (JICA), aimed to equip participants with the skills to train others in life-saving techniques.

This comprehensive four-day training, followed by a one-day provider course, involved staff from various units and backgrounds.

During the training, simulation with mannequins was used to demonstrate real-life scenarios, allowing participants to practice and refine their skills in performing high-quality CPR. The Basic Life Support (BLS) sequence was thoroughly taught, ensuring that participants gained a solid understanding of the correct steps to take in emergency situations. The importance of revisiting the basics was emphasized, as mastering these foundational techniques is crucial when approaching a patient in cardiac or respiratory arrest. This step-by-step approach ensures that responders can act confidently and effectively in saving lives.

The objective was to produce qualified instructors and providers who would, in turn, train additional individuals, fostering a community where even non-medical persons can confidently respond in emergency situations and save lives.
