Home-Based Palliative Care services at CRRH, Gelephu were initiated in December 2024 to improve the quality of life for patients with chronic, debilitating illnesses requiring end-of-life care.

โ€ŽThrough a holistic approach, a multidisciplinary teamโ€”Medical Officer, Nurse, Health Assistant, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, and Drungtshoโ€”supports patients and their families by addressing medical, psychological, spiritual, and practical needs, while empowering families with basic caregiving skills.

โ€ŽServices include medication refills, physiotherapy, nursing care (wound dressing, NG tube insertion, urinary catheterisation, tracheostomy care, and blood sample collection), as well as traditional medicine (acupuncture), spiritual therapy, and bereavement support.

โ€ŽHome visits are conducted every Thursday, with flexibility based on patient needs.

โ€ŽA total of 80 patients in Sarpang are currently enrolled in the home-based palliative care services.
