From 21 to 25 October 2024, the Regional Simulation Lab of CRRH hosted practical training for the Druk Sokchop Neonatal Basic and Advanced Life Support (NBLS/NALS) Courses for Instructors and Providers. The training participants consisted of healthcare workers from CRRH, Tsirang Hospital, Dagapela Hospital, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck Military Hospital, and Samdrup Jongkhar Hospital, with funding support from UNICEF. The training aimed to enhance evidence-based interventions immediately after birth and beyond.

As part of the Druk Sokchop Bhutan Lifesavers’ Courses, this program utilized a blended-learning approach. Participants completed an online Neonatal Basic and Advanced Life Support course on the OpenKGUMSB platform before attending the hands-on training.

During the workshop, 12 participants were trained as NBLS/NALS Instructors, and 14 candidates were trained as NBLS/NALS Providers. With this training, CRRH now boasts 17 NBLS/NALS Instructors and 22 NBLS/NALS Providers, covering over one-third of the relevant healthcare workers and ensuring sustainability for future facility-based in-house training.
