The Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU) at CRRH has recently been equipped with a dialysis facility, significantly enhancing patient care.

Previously, critically ill patients needing dialysis had to be transported from the ICU on the second floor to the dialysis unit on the first floor. This process posed serious risks and often puts patients further into critical stages. The situation became even more concerning when elevators were out of service, forcing staff to push patients through ramps, which increased delays and heightened the risk of complications.

Several incidents occurred where patients suffered during these transfers, highlighting the need for dialysis facilities inside the ICU. With the setup of this new facility, these risks have been eliminated, allowing dialysis to be performed promptly within the ICU premises. This not only improves patient safety but also ensures faster access of critical care for those in need. The first successful dialysis session in the AICU took place on November 13, 2024.

The hospital extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this project a success: the Biomedical Engineering Unit, the Maintenance and Engineering Unit, and the dedicated staff of the AICU and Hemodialysis Unit. This new facility represents a significant advancement in the quality of care provided at CRRH.
