Observing the World Glaucoma Week (08 March -14 March 2026), the Department of Ophthalmology at CRRH conducted an awareness session on 09 March 2026.
Glaucoma, a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, often referred to as the “silent thief of sight.”
The session emphasized the importance of early detection, regular eye check-ups, and timely treatment to prevent vision loss. Information on the symptoms, risk factors, and treatment options for glaucoma was also shared with the participants.
Moreover, detailed eye screenings, including intraocular pressure measurement and optic nerve evaluation, will be provided throughout the week to encourage early diagnosis and timely management of the disease.
Through this initiative, the hospital reaffirmed its commitment to promoting eye health in the community and emphasized that regular eye examinations are essential in preventing avoidable blindness from glaucoma.
