In 2006, October 21st was designated Global Clinical Engineering Day. It celebrates clinical engineers and their role in global health and patient care. The American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) describes the profession as “supporting and advancing patient care by applying engineering and managerial skills to healthcare technology”.
The clinical engineering team works under the Biomedical Engineering unit. In CRRH, the biomedical engineering unit is a team of 10, comprising biomedical equipment technicians and medical gas technicians, led by a biomedical engineer. They play a vital role in ensuring that healthcare services can be delivered seamlessly by maintaining the functionality of medical equipment and a continuous supply of medical gases within the hospital.
Today, an event to celebrate the team was held in the hospital. The event was attended by the Medical Superintendent, Hospital Lam, Nursing Superintendent and other valued members of the hospital administration. CRRH wishes a Happy Global Clinical Engineering Day to our team.
