World Prematurity Day is celebrated globally each year on 17th November. This day is celebrated in order to create awareness on premature births and the implications it has on the families and the society. It is a global issue that touches every country, every society, every family in various ways.

Worldwide, over 13 million babies are born premature out of which many of them face lifelong disabilities as a consequence. It is one of the leading causes of death in children under the age of five.

This yearโ€™s theme: โ€œOver 13 million babies born prematurely every year. Access to quality care everywhere!โ€ highlights the disparity in health care services and calls for an urgent need for universal quality care for all Pre-terms.

The Pediatric Unit at CRRH observed this day celebrating the NICU graduates, the resilience of the babies and their families and the selfless work of the health staffs.

Together, let us all work towards providing every newborn an opportunity to thrive and to shine.
