The Digital Health and Innovation Unit (DHIU) at the Central Regional Referral Hospital (CRRH) was officially inaugurated today by Dasho Dr. Lotay Tshering, Governor of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), in correspondence with the celebration of His Majesty The Kingโ€™s Birth Anniversary.

The event commenced with a Thruesel ceremony, followed by the formal opening of the DHIU office, jointly inaugurated by Dasho Dr. Lotay Tshering, the Lam TsoZin of CRRH and Dr. Jigme Yoezer, focal for the DHIU along with the medical superintendent Dr.Choeda gyaltshen of CRRH. The event was then followed by the recitation of His Majestyโ€™s Zhabten, and a cake-cutting ceremony which marked the occasion.

Following the inauguration, Dr. Jigme Yoezer presented DHIUโ€™s vision, mission, and key focus areas to the Governor, CRRH administration, unit in-charges, and hospital staff.

The Key Focus Areas of the DHIU highlighted:

1. Digital Literacy & Training โ€“ Enhancing staff skills in ePIS, digital workflows, and data entry.

2. Data Analytics & Decision Support โ€“ Utilizing ePIS data for workflow optimization, resource management, and improved patient care.

3. Data Security & Governance โ€“ Strengthening patient data protection through data policy sensitisation and training.

4. Digital Health Innovation โ€“ Collaborating with IT colleges and research institutes to develop health apps, AI tools, and automation solutions.

5. Public Engagement & Communication โ€“ Managing hospital social media to disseminate health updates and educate patients.

Dasho Dr. Lotay Tshering emphasized DHIUโ€™s pivotal role in Bhutanโ€™s digital health transformation and assured his full support. He highlighted CRRH’s potential as a hub for piloting innovative digital health solutions before national implementation. Additionally, he provided an update on GMCโ€™s upcoming projects and urged everyone to work towards a more efficient healthcare system.

The event concluded with an interactive session, fostering discussions on digital health advancements and future initiatives.
