The ophthalmology unit organized a program to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups to prevent irreversible eye problems. Additionally, a three day eye screening program was conducted from 07 October to 09 October for the students of Jigmechoiling Middle Secondary School, Sarpang. This year, the day is globally observed under the theme “Children, Love Your Eyes.”

Our eyes are our most vital sense organ, allowing us to experience the beauty around us. Globally, at least one billion people live with visual impairment. In Bhutan, one in every 100th individual lacks useful vision. With children spending more time on digital devices, the risk of eye-related issues has significantly increased. Therefore, it is essential to moderate their screen time.

This World Sight Day, let us empower the next generation with the knowledge to care for their eyes and inspire them by prioritizing our own eye health. We urge everyone to have their vision checked and screened for eye conditions before they threaten your sight. Together, we can eliminate needless blindness and visual impairment.
